Central Presbyterian
Church a caring, inquiring, inclusive community
We strive to bring children and young people to God and
teach them to live fruitful lives in Christ.
Children attend the first few minutes of the worship service and leave
for Children’s Sunday School following the Children’s
Message. Our Director of Christian
Education, Pam Sheridan will gladly answer any questions you have about the
children’s program. Call at the
church: 345-8724.
Formal Sunday school classes for preschool through middle school begin at 10:15 am each Sunday through early June. All ages meet in Room 206 before going to individual classrooms.. The classes are divided by age and grade as follows:
Nursery Care is available all morning in Room 101/103 (Karen Wissig)
Preschool thru Grade 5 meet
with Eileen Hanna,
Middle School/High School meet with Bill and Laurie Inglis.
Akaloo. The new curriculum for the Sunday morning classes is called Akaloo. Akaloo is inspired by the Greek word which means “to follow.” Each stage of the program focuses on five areas or units of discipleship: Bible, God, Disciple, Church and World. Everyone is united behind a single theme: We are called to follow Jesus.
We have weekly Youth Group meetings (6:30 to 8:00pm) on Wednesday nights during the school year. Bring the whole family for Wednesday Nite Bite at 5:45pm. Join Rebekah Hanson and some college interns for a great time and bring a friend! The youth meet in Room 201 or 204.
Confirmation Classes for 8th graders up will meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month with Rev. Jennifer Martin from Koinonia Center starting in September. The class will include a simple meal, study and reflection. The class will be a valuable opportunity for the youth to explore their faith and learn more about the church.
In the summer, a group of youth and adults will go on a summer
mission trip for graduating 8th graders and high school
students. The group works with the Sierra Service Project, a
non-profit organization that repairs homes in Native American communities, on
the Table Bluff Reservation near
Summer Activities.
Besides the youth group mission trip in August, we join with other Presbyterian Churches at summer options offered by Cascades Presbytery for kindergarten through high school. Summer concludes with Central’s own Family Camp at Camp Lutherwood over Labor Day weekend.
